When we say the word “light bulb,” you can think of the lights on your dresser, lights in your home and the flickering fluorescent lights in your office building. However, we rely heavily on exterior lighting to illuminate our streets and sidewalks, illuminate our path from the driveway to the door or as a motion sensor security light to keep us safe at night.

Outdoor lighting is crucial for safety, whether you are driving late or walking home after dark. Most of the time, these exterior lights are off, yellow and even loud with their constant hum. There is a better way to illuminate the night and that is with outdoor LED lights.

LEDs are the best option for outdoor lighting for many reasons. The benefits of outdoor LED lighting include:

Instant-on: Traditional lighting requires time and heat to heat and ignite. This can be difficult when used in cold and outdoor lighting environments. Since LED lights need little heat to operate, they are always on instantly, even in sub-zero climates. 

Durability: Unlike other outdoor lights, LEDs are manufactured with durable materials such as plastic, not glass. They can handle adverse weather conditions much better than traditional light bulbs. 

Flexibility: you can find outdoor LED lighting in various ways; street lighting, wall-mounted accessories, motion sensor safety lights and much more!
In the near future, we are likely to see more and more cities that use outdoor LED lighting for street lighting and security lights. While it is more expensive than traditional outdoor lighting options, LED energy savings will help pay for lights over time, usually three to five years, and increase security. Cities like Los Angeles, Detroit, Edmonton (Canada), San José and many more are becoming LED streetlights to improve safety and save money.
